WARRANTY/SERVICE AGREEMENTS
 
Beginning October 1, 2007, service agreements on motor vehicles are governed by N.C. General Statute §§ 66-370, 66-372, and 66-373; and service agreements on home appliances are governed by N.C. General Statute §§ 66-371, 66-372, and 66-373.

The Department of Insurance does not regulate companies that sell service agreements. If you have a complaint against a service agreement company, contact the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division via its website (http://www.ncdoj.com/consumerprotection/cp_complaints.jsp) or by telephone toll-free within North Carolina at (877)-5-NO-SCAM.

Companies that file real property warranties are required to file a surety bond with the Secretary of State's Office in accordance with North Carolina General Statute 58-1-20. The address for this is:
